The Congress of the People said in a statement that it is disgusted with the contempt that the ruling party is displaying towards the public protector.

COPE says that the office of the Public Protector is a guarantee against the abuse of power and misuse of state resources.

COPE spokesperson Dennis Bloem says, South Africa needs a strong and Independent Public Protector especially as the African National Cadre are determined to bankrupt the country.

Dennis Bloem said, “The President and the Speaker must shame themselves for this behavior against the Public Protector. The Congress of the People is fully behind the public protector and we will mobilize South Africa to stand up against everyone who is defying the Public Protector”
