One arrested for hijacking a vehicle in Bloemfontein

Police in Bloemfontein have recovered two hijacked vehicles from their owners in two separate incidents.

Police arrested a 32 year old man and search for two other suspects.

It is alleged that both incidents suspects had to use firearms to hijacked these vehicles.

Police Spokesperson Chaka Marope said, “The owner of the vehicle was sitting in the car and he confronted the guy and demanded their cellphones then they drove away with the vehicle”

Marope said “In a second incident the man was sitting with his wife in the car and then one suspect who was walking on foot approached them, threatened him with the firearm and tried to put him in the boot, but he managed to escape.”

The arrested suspect is expected to appear in the Ladybrand Magistrate Court on a charge of possession of stolen vehicle.
