A South African Government
delegation led by International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite
Nkoana-Mashabane, which also includes Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies
and Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas is taking part in a meeting of the SADC
Council of Ministers, taking place in Gaborone, Republic of Botswana.
The SADC Council of Ministers
is responsible for overseeing implementation of SADC policies, programmes and
decisions.
International Relations and
Cooperation department’s spokesperson Nelson Monyela said the SADC summit is a
statutory meeting of the regional body which meets every August.
The body is expected to
deliberate on a number of issues affecting the region particularly looking at
the integration of the economy of the fifteen member’s state of the SADC which
includes South Africa and all neighbouring countries, he added.
