14 School children injured in Pietermaritzburg taxi collision

Fifteen people were injured this morning, most of them school children, when a taxi and light motor vehicle collided at the Slangspruit and Trewlayney Road intersection in Pietermaritzburg.


 ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring reported ER24 paramedics, along with other services arrived on the scene and found both vehicles parked on the side of the road outside the school.

Children that had been in the taxi were found sitting on the sidewalk with their teacher.

Paramedics assessed the patients found on the scene and found that 14 children and one adult had sustained only minor injuries in the collision.

Fortunately no serious or fatal injuries were found on scene, Meiring mentioned



The kids were treated on scene and thereafter transported to various facilities for further treatment.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
