Western Cape Traffic Services
held another round of roadblocks throughout the province this past weekend.
24 roadblocks were
orchestrated and an amount of 2 988 vehicles were stopped. 1 460 drivers were
tested for alcohol where 58 drunken drivers were arrested.
Meanwhile, Traffic Chief Kenny
Africa says there was only four fatalities recorded since the beginning of the
long weekend.
“Two motorcyclists lost their lives
Wednesday in accidents in Potsdam and one in Athlone. And Thursday evening, a
passenger died in a motor vehicle accident on the N2 near Macassar. Saturday morning,
a driver lost his life in a head on collision just outside Worcester on the N1.”
Africa said.
