At least 40 children were injured this morning following a collision between a bus and a taxi on Landsdowne road in Khayalithsa.

ER24 Paramedics, along with various services, received the emergency call and responded to the scene.

On arrival paramedics found a school bus lying on its side in the middle of the road with a taxi parked a few metres away.

Children that had been inside the bus had already started to climb out of their vehicle.

On assessment, paramedics found that roughly 40 children had been injured in the collision.

Fortunately the children had sustained minor injuries in this incident.

Parents set out treating the patients for their injuries while local authorities closed off the road for further safety.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
