Two people have died and roughly sixteen others injured in a collision between a car and taxi on the R511 William Nicol Drive earlier this morning.

ER24 Spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said when ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene they found several people scattered all over the scene. Some patients were entrapped in the vehicles.

Bodasing added that unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for the child and one adult. Fire and Rescue Services extricated patients who were trapped. Patients were treated and transported to various hospitals.

In a separate accident a boy believed to be two years old and another believed to be three years old died in a collision between a bakkie and truck in the early hours of this morning.

The collision took place on the N12 before Ogies, direction Witbank.

ER24 Spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said when ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene they found the bakkie lying in its side.

“The two year old boy was found lying on the road and the three year old was found on the gravel. Both were assessed. Unfortunately they had succumbed to their severe injuries. They were declared dead,” Bodasing added.

She also said that two adults who were injured in the collision were treated on scene by paramedics and rushed to hospital for further medical care.

The exact details to the cause of the collisions will remain the subject of a police investigation
