Western Cape MEC of Health,
Nomafrench Mbombo will today conduct the opening of the Hermanus Community Day Centre.
The CDC that costs R45 million
is the only public primary health facility for those living in Hermanus,
Zwelihle and Mount Pleasant.
Western Cape Government Health
Overberg spokesperson Natasha Peterson said it’s a milestone for the Department
of Health because the Hermanus CDC is the only healthcare facility in Hermanus.
It has replaced Zwelihle and Mount Pleasant which were unsatisfactory and not
very suitable for the growing demand on health services in the area.
“This new CDC offers the four
range of family health care services for the community of Zwelihle, Hermanus
and Mount Pleasant that includes womens’s health, child health, mental health,
infection diseases, oral health care, rehabilitation services and chronic
health,” Peterson added.
