Western Cape MEC of Economic
Opportunities Alan Winde has outlined the impacts of climate change and the Province’s
strategy to deal with these factors.
Ministerial Spokesperson Bronwynne
Jooste said he highlighted certain climate change that we can see in our
province. He also outlined what the Western Cape government is doing to combat
these impacts.
"They include a conservation Agricultural
approach and we already set the positive impact that we are having for farmers
in the province," Jooste added.
One of these is the Agri-processing,
which could see the sector grow in job creation producing about 100 000 jobs
to the economy and generate R26 billion.
MEC Winde says economically climate
change related events cost the province R3 billion in 2003 and 2008 but this is
not a new phenomenon.
