The Western Cape Transport and Public Works has urged eyewitnesses who may assist with information regarding the Intercape violent attack in Strand.

Last Night, an Intercape bus was set alight in Strand in which two people died and 34 other people injured.

Acting Ministerial Spokesperson for MEC Donald Grant, Byron said the perpetrators of this violent crime must face the full might of the law.

“We will support all efforts to bring these criminals to book. Such acts undermine the provision of reliable public transport and threaten the safety of commuters. We send our condolences to the family and friends of those who have lost their lives in the attack, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery.

We trust that the police will continue to conduct a thorough investigation into what happened,” La Hoe said.

La Hoe concluded by saying that the motive for the attack was not yet clear.

Meanwhile the African National Congress in the Western Cape has condemned the bus incident.

ANC Provincial Secretary Faiz Jacobs said they were shocked to hear the senseless stoning of the bus.

“We express our sincere condolences to the victims and their families. We are asking anyone who might have with information to come to the police and try to bring these criminals into book.” Jacobs added.
