Nine people were injured this
morning after two truck collided on the N3 highway in Cato Ridge, KwaZulu
Natal.
ER24 spokesperson Russel
Meiring says when ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found both trucks parked
in the middle of the road.
He says passengers from one of
the trucks were found sitting in the centre aisle. On assessment, paramedics
found that two of the occupants had sustained serious injuries while seven
others sustained only minor injuries.
He added that aramedics
treated the patients for their injuries and provided the seriously injured
patients with advanced life support. Once treated, the patients were treated to
various hospitals for urgent treatment.
The cause of the collision is
not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
Meanwhile, a man escaped
injury this afternoon when two trucks collided on the M1 Crown interchange in
Johannesburg.
Meiring says “Paramedics from
the ER24 South Branch were returning to base when they came across the
incident. Two trucks lay in the middle of the road with one of the trucks lying
on its side, burning slowly.
He says Paramedics immediately
rushed over and pulled the driver from the vehicle. Fortunately the driver
escape without injury. Paramedics were able to extinguish the fire with
extinguishers from members of the public.
Local authorities were on
scene for further investigations.
