The Western Cape African
National Congress Youth League says it is encouraged by the South African
Student Congress SRC election performances in the province.
ANCYL provincial Deputy
Secretary Marissa Van Rensburh says, “The Youth League would like to
congratulate the leadership and membership of SASCO in the province and at
branch level.”
She added that SASCO’s
achievements in the province come at the backdrop of a strong unity of purpose
that prioritises student’s needs over self-interests of individual leaders.
Van Rensburh says “We
congratulate our SASCO branches in CPUT (Cape Peninsula University of
Technology), UWC (university of the Western Cape) in particular, but also
Stellenbosch and UCT (University of Cape Town) for their resulting victories
and inroads made in their SRC (Student Representative Council) elections.”
We see this a confidence of
young people in SASCO in particular that the progressive youth alliance led by
the ANC is the only vehicle of transformation at our institutions where we know
in this province particular transformation needs to be pushed highly in the
agenda, she concluded.
