The department of Local
Government in the Western Cape
has just tabled another Annual Report with a Clean Audit before the Standing
Committee on Local Government. The department has responsibility for supporting
municipalities to manage their own affairs. James-Brent Styan is spokesperson
for the Minister responsible:
“Some of the highlights include two new
service centres have been opened in rural municipalities, electricity markets
opened, annual flood and fire campaigns were rolled out to 26 school and 12,000
learners”
Also highlighted in the report
was the fact that 99.1% of households have access to piped water while 93.4%
have access to electricity.
