Freak accident has left two injured in Bloemfontein

Two people sustained injuries in a freak accident when debris from a parking lot’s wall fell onto them.

A woman, believed to be in her 60's and a man, believed to be in his 30's were injured when glass and debris fell to the ground below.

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak reported that it is understood that a bus crashed into the parking lot’s wall which is situated approximately three storey’s high in Central Park, Bloemfontein.

Bystanders explained that the bus crashed into the wall and debris from the wall as well as glass from the windows of the bus fell down onto the people walking on the sidewalk.

Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 6am where they found the injured woman and man still lying on the ground between the debris.

 "The woman sustained serious head injuries while the man sustained moderate injuries all over his head and body." Vermaak said

They were transported to Pelonomi Hospital by ER24 and Provincial EMS respectively.

Paramedics learned that no one was injured in the bus.

The driver of the bus was also not injured in the incident.

At this stage it is not clear what caused the bus to crash into the side of the wall.


Local authorities were on scene for further investigations, Vermaak concluded
