The Western Cape Government says it is closely monitoring the impact of usually dry seasonal weather in some regions across the province.

Alan Winde, MEC of Economic Opportunities says he is concerned about the impact of water shortages on agriculture, a leading export sector.

“Our province is still undertreat in certain areas with low rainfall. Our dams are not full in the more specific on the West Coast and in the Karoo region.” Winde said.

“The season has still a bit of chance to have some reason but we are watching it very closely. And in conjunction with the ministry of local government along with Disaster Management so we can prepare ourselves.” Winde added
