City launches Special star competition

The city of Cape Town has invited children to enter its new special star competition to stand a chance to help the City’s executive Mayor, Patricia De Lile, switch on the festive season lights.

In keeping with this year’s “We Love Africa” theme for the annual Festival of Lights, the City’s Special Star competition is all about embracing what is wonderful about being African.

Spokesperson for the Executive Mayor Patricia De Lille, Pierrinne Leukes explained that the city of  Cape Town has invited children between the ages of 6 and 14  are invited to submit an entry, describing why they love living in Africa.

Four special stars will be chosen from the entries received.

“These lucky children will be have the opportunity to help Mayor De Lille switch on Cape Town’s famous festive lights.” Leukes said


Each child will receive an official certificate confirming their Special Star status and will also have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with Mayor De Lille, Pierrinne Leukes concluded.
