Today, DA Shadow Minister of
Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Annette Steyn, together with Shadow
Minister for Corporate Governance and Traditional Authorities, Kevin Mileham,
will conduct an oversight visit to the National Disaster Management Centre in
Pretoria to review their drought preparations.
DA Press Officer, Karabo
Tledima said
“The NDMC has to provide it’s integrate and coordinated system for
disaster management in South Africa but the report suggests that the centre is
not functional and not prepared to handle the drought. The drought is the worst
on record in 112 years.
The DA
will continue to hold the director general as well as Minister Senzeni Zokwana
accountable for their failure to deal adequately with the crisis.”
