A woman was killed this
morning on the R614 when a bus collided head on with her bakkie in Wartburg,
Pietermaritzburg.
“Paramedics from ER24 were on their way to another emergency when they
came across the collision shortly after 7am. They found the bakkie standing on
the side of the road with the woman still trapped in the vehicle”, said
Werner Vermaak, ER24 Spokesperson.
“Upon their assessment they found that the woman barely showed signs of
life, they used rescue equipment to gain access to the woman in order to try
and save her life”, said Vermaak.
“Sadly, despite the efforts of the paramedics,
there was nothing more than they could do and she was later declared dead on
the scene. “, said Vemaak.
“The driver of the bus, believe to be the only occupant, was not injured
in the collision. Local authorities were called to the scene to conduct an
investigation”, concluded Vermaak.
