The Minister of Justice and
Correctional Services will be appealing a High Court order to release SACP
leader, Chis Hani's assassin, Janusz Waluś on parole.
Michael Masutha had mentioned following the
March 10 ruling that he would study the judgment to understand the basis on
which it was made, before acting on it.
He said then “that the judgment may not be in line with
the processes in place for granting parole, in which the healing of victims is
considered key.”
On Wednesday, the justice
ministry released a statement in which Masutha announced his plans to launch an
appeal.
In it, he confirms that he
sent his legal representatives who have "served a notice of application
for leave to appeal against the judgment with the Registrar of the High Court.
