Former Stormers coach and Springbok flank Rassie Erasmus is set to quit his job at the South African Rugby Union.

According to the Cape Argus newspaper on Tuesday, Erasmus apparently decided this week to withdraw from the race to become the next Springbok coach.

There is still no clarity from Saru on when the successor to Heyneke Meyer will be appointed.

The next major Saru meeting on April 1 is expected to reveal what the plans are, but time is running out as the Boks face Ireland in a three-Test series in June already.
