Law enforcement officials have been deployed to Manenberg, over the past few days there's been a spate of alleged deadly shootings in the area following the murder of an alleged gang leader.

Gun battles between gangs have been holding residents hostage since last week.

The City of Cape Town's Robbie Roberts says safety and security has been stepped up.

Since the spread of gang violence in the area last week, we redeployed other Stabilisation Unit members back to the area in order to get stability there”, He said.

“We also have the gang and drugs team, consisting currently of Metro Police, traffic services and law enforcement.”

Meanwhile the Paarl East Community Policing Forum has called on residents to come forward to help police curb gangsterism in their community.
