Western Cape Community Safety MEC Dan Plato said “he’s positive gangsterism can be eradicated from Cape Town communities, with the help of residents”. Plato is visited Bonteheuwel today.

It's one of several areas plagued by gang violence.

Plato, along with religious leaders, the Bonteheuwel Neighbourhood Watch and residents, are going door to door today to try to encourage locals to speak out against gangsterism.

Residents say shootings occur almost daily.

The MEC has called on residents to not turn a blind eye to these activities and to report it to police.
