Nair corruption allegations to be probed

The City of Johannesburg says an investigating officer will now probe allegations of corruption against Pikitup Managing Director Amanda Nair and have urged workers with any information to come forward.

South African Municipal Workers Union members have refused to go back to work, demanding that wage disparities be resolved and that Nair be dismissed.

The strike, which has been going on for almost a month now has forced the city to employ private contractors to remove refuse. City of Johannesburg MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services’ Matshidiso Mfikoe says although an investigation is underway, she sees no reason to dismiss Nair.
