DA accuses WC ANC for destabilising Grabouw residents

DA’s Deputy Leader and Western Cape MEC for Human Settlements, Bongonkosi Madikizela, in a statement issued, says it is clear that the protests in Grabouw the last few days are once again the result of the Western Cape ANC's attempt to destabilise the area in the run-up to the Local Government Election in August.

Madikizela says Western Cape Government suspects high-level coordination by the ANC to illegally settle people on a piece of land that belongs to the national Department of Public Works.

However, Eyewitnesses have allegedly reported trucks delivering building materials to the area, believed to be coordinated by the ANC.

Madikizela says the suspicion that this illegal informal settlement is arranged and coordinated by the ANC, is confirmed by the disgruntled ANC Councillor in Ward 11 in Grabouw, John Michels, who allegedly recently publicly accused the provincial leaders of his own party of encouraging people to illegally occupy the piece of land.
