South African Airways board chairperson Dudu Myeni
says racism is a big problem in the company, adding that a task team has been
set up to tackle the scourge.
President Jacob Zuma met with Myeni in Kempton Park
yesterday as part of his visit to state entities.
He also
toured Eskom. SAA employees say while they appreciate the president’s visit and
encouragement, there are a number of issues facing workers.
Myeni says racism is a big problem and management
takes it seriously.
“The issue
of racism is very common and they have asked the CEO to set up a team in his
office, who will advise on how to deal with issues of racism.”
The president says he’s noted the employees
concerns and is waiting in anticipation to see how the board handles the
problems.
