Police investigate a murder of an EC businesswoman

Police are investigating a case of murder after a popular Eastern Cape businesswoman and former mayor was found dead in her house on Wednesday night.

59-year old Shirley Bosman, of Amatolaview in Stutterheim was alone at her house at the time.

It is alleged that suspects gained entry through a back bathroom window and attacked her.

King William’s Town police spokeswoman, Siphokazi Mawisa, confirmed that a case of murder has been opened.

Bosman, a former Stutterheim Transitional Local Council deputy mayor was running a shop that was supporting the small community of Amatolaview.

The family, through a spokesman, Toney Plaatjies, said Bosman, also a former teacher, was found on the floor of her room.


Her lifeless body was found by neighbours who were concerned after she failed to open up her shop on Wednesday morning.​
