African National Congress President Jacob Zuma says Gauteng cannot be left to parties who don’t know how to run the province, and have no policies beyond anger and insults.  Party Chairperson Paul Mashatile says that only the ANC can defend South Africa's democracy, and not any opposition party.

Speaking at the ANC provincial general conference in Pretoria on Friday night, Mashatile said the province has always dealt with issues on the basis of principle, discussing them openly without fear or favour.

ANC Gauteng chairperson Paul Mashatile has commended the Provincial Executive Committee for its handling of the recent Nkandla ruling in the Constitutional Court.

The Gauteng PEC at the time accepted President Jacob Zuma's apology regarding the Public Protector's recommendations on Nkandla, but called on him to do the right thing.
