Two teenage boys were hit by a train at the White Road train crossing in the Retreat area in Cape Town earlier today.

The boys were allegedly riding on a bike and apparently did not see the oncoming train when they crossed the rail.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring says, “When paramedics arrived on scene they found that one of the boys sustained severe head injuries.”

He says “Unfortunately, there was nothing that paramedics could do for him and he was declared dead on scene.”

He added that “The other boy sustained critical injuries including various fractures and head injuries.”

The injured boy was treated and transported by ER24 to Groote Schuur Hospital for urgent treatment, he added.
