The Western Cape government says it
needs a further R40 million to assist farmers and municipalities during the
ongoing drought.
The province expects the dry season to
persist as dam levels are dangerously low, despite heavy rain this week.
Meetings are happening behind closed
doors to come up with an action plan to lessen the impact.
Economic Opportunities MEC Alan Winde
says the initial application required about R80 million for drought relief.
He says the province is trying to
raise more funds.
