A 40-year-old man was left seriously injured this
afternoon after he was apparently thrown from a moving train near the
Brackenfell Train Station in Brackenfell in the Western Cape.
Paramedic’s spokesperson Russel Meiring says the
exact details surrounding this incident are subject to the investigations of
local authorities.
Meiring says “ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene
after the patient’s friend had apparently witnessed the incident and called
ER24.”
He says “Local authorities stopped all the traffic
on the rails and allowed paramedic’s access to the patient, found lying next to
the tracks.”
On assessment, it was discovered that the man had
sustained serious injuries to both his legs and well as one of his arms, leaving
him in a serious condition, Meiring adds
Paramedics immediately began their treatment and
initiated advanced life support interventions to stabilise the patient.
Once treated, the patient was transported to
Mediclinic Cape Gate for urgent treatment, he concluded.
