A 20-year-old schoolgirl was found murdered in a donga at Ngcisinde, in Ngqamakhwe, by village boys on Wednesday, police said.

"Nonelwa Mdleleni was last seen on Wednesday during the afternoon while she was coming from school.

She never reached her home. Community and family members have been looking for her.

Police suspect that the perpetrator knew she was walking alone from school to her home," said police spokesperson Jackson Manatha in a statement.

Manatha said Ngqamakhwe police are investigating a case of murder.
