SJC calls for a faster investigation on Sinoxolo Mafevuka’s case

The Social Justice Coalition says it is unacceptable that a case involving a Khayelitsha teenager that was found murdered in a communal toilet has been postponed ten times.

Sinoxolo Mafevuka’s body was found in a nearby toilet on the 2nd of March 2016.

SJC’s Nomthetho Kilo says the delays in this case are demoralising for Sinoxolo’s family and for the community members following the case.

Kilo says “ With each new postponement, harm is inflicted not only on Sinoxolo’s family and friends, but also on survivors of GBV who may choose to suffer in silence rather than submit themselves to secondary victimisation at the hands of an inefficient justice system.”
