The Western Cape Social Development Department says trauma councillors will visit survivors of the Mitchell's Plain house fire.

Eight people including seven children died in the blaze that gutted a house and two informal structures on the same property Saturday day morning.

A pregnant woman and three people remain in a critical condition in hospital following the incident.

The cause of the fire is the subject of a forensic investigation.

Social Development MEC Albert Fritz said, they have provided food and will provide all the necessary physical assistance to give the people against the cold.

Today their trauma counselling is set to start.
