Cape Town traffic officials have confirmed that 302 vehicles linked to welcoming car service Uber have been confiscated.

The cars were confiscated between January and June this year.

The figure is much higher than the 255 cars confiscated between January and November last year.

Cape Town traffic spokesperson Richard Coleman says this is due to an increase in the number of Uber partner drivers on the road without valid operating licences.
