A fifth suspect in the Jayde Panayiotou murder is expected to appear in court today.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested at his home in Greenbushes in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.

Port Elizabeth businessman, Christopher Panayiotou, is accused of hiring men to kill his wife for financial reasons in April last year.

The National Prosecuting Authority says the new suspect was arrested after cellphone profiling placed him in the vicinity of Panayiotou’s home on the morning she disappeared.

Two others, Sizwezakhe Vumazonke and Sinethemba Nenembe, are already set to stand trial alongside Christopher.

A fifth suspect, Luthando Siyoli, has turned State’s witness.

It is unclear whether the latest arrest will affect the trial scheduled for October. A pre-trial hearing will take place next week.
