Metrorail rearranges CT train schedule following vandalism, arson attacks

The destruction of six trains in separate arson attacks over the past few months in Cape Town have resulted in major delays to Metrorail's peak hour schedules.

The rail operator has amended its timetable, which has seen at least 30 trips cancelled indefinitely.

Since the start of the year, the service has suffered millions of rands worth of damage due to arson attacks and vandalism.

Metrorail’s Riana Scott said, they’ve listed all the train numbers affected by the trains destroyed by arson that are not going to be back in the next six, 12 or 18 months depending on the damage and that they’ve removed them from the timetable, so that Metrorail customers can know those trains are not running and they can make plans to get other trains.
