Road accident leaves 4 injured

Four people were injured this morning when a truck and a bakkie collided head on with each other on the R57 near the Barrage Road intersection in Vanderbijlpark .

Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 4AM this morning where they found the two vehicles mangled against each other.

Three people, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, were trapped in the cabin of the truck. All three sustained severe fractures and multiple lacerations. The jaws of life were used to free them from the wreckage.

A man, believed to be in his thirties, was found trapped in the Toyota Hilux bakkie. He sustained back injuries.

All victims were treated and stabilised on the scene before being transported by ER24 and provincial EMS to Mediclinic Emfuleni
