Four dismissed South African Broadcasting Corporation
journalists will know their fate tomorrow with judgment in the Labour Court
expected to be handed down.
Last week Foeta Krige, Suna Venter, Krivani Pillay and
Jacques Steenkamp took the broadcaster to court, after being dismissed for
speaking out against censorship and an editorial policy that banned the visuals
of violent protests.
This also comes as the public broadcaster agreed to rescind
its decision after a recommendation made by the Independent Communications
Authority of South Africa.
Solidarity’s Anton van der Bijl says they are hopeful that
they will win the case.
