The African National Congress in
the Western Cape believes its national leadership will be able to resolve the
ongoing turmoil around its provincial chairperson Marius Fransman.
Fransman had taken the party’s Secretary
General Gwede Mantashe to court in his fight for his job.
He had voluntarily stepped down to allow
an investigation into sexual assault claims levelled against him to run its
course.
Fransman, though, was conspicuous in his
absence during deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa's campaign blitz in the Cape
Winelands yesterday.
His deputy and acting Western Cape
chairperson Khaya Magaxa said Fransman’s status within the party is still
unclear.
