Western Cape Interim Provincial traffic spokesperson, Jacques Mostert, says six people have been killed on Western Cape roads since the start of the weekend, two of the fatalities being pedestrians.

Mostert says four motorists were also arrested for drunken driving, with one motorist in Somerset West being four times over the legal limit.

Two people lost their lives in the early hours of Friday morning, while traveling on the N1 outside Touwsriver, when their car hit a paper roll which had fallen off a truck.

He says another two died this morning on the Aberdeen road outside Beaufort West.
