A tip-off led police to an abalone haul worth R2 million in Mitchell's Plain.
Captain FC van Wyk said that the bust was made on Monday night, after the local crime prevention unit got information about illicit activities at a house in Chelsea Street, Rondevlei Park.
He said Police found the abalone during a search of the property.
Police confiscated the abalone and arrested a 36-year-old man, residing in Belhar, for the illegal possession of abalone.
The suspect is due to appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate's Court soon.
