A man convicted of murdering a five-year-old Khayelitsha girl maintains that he is innocent.

Bongani Dlamini was yesterday found guilty of murdering Anovuyo Ndamase but was acquitted on charges of kidnapping and rape.

Dlamini was arrested last march, shortly after the girl's body was found in a refuse bag metres from his shack in the Enkanini informal settlement.

Dlamini says he can only apologise for not informing the deceased’s relatives after waking up and discovering her body in black bags in his shack
