DA calls on Parliament’s Finance Portfolio Committee to look into Makwakwa probe

The Democratic Alliance has called on Parliament’s Finance Portfolio Committee to look into the investigation of suspended South African Revenue Services official, Jonas Makwakwa.


Makwakwa’s suspension is a result of numerous allegations by the Financial Intelligence Centre of irregular deposits into his personal bank accounts, totalling around R1.2 million.

 SARS commissioner, Tom Moyane allegedly received this information in May but only recently took action.

 Moyane has also accused the FIC of being uncooperative. DA Member of Parliament David Maynier says there are a ’’host of burning questions.’’
