Pastor Anderson hasn’t been approved yet to visit South Africa

The Department of Home Affairs says it has not yet made a decision on whether to allow the controversial US pastor Steve Anderson into the country.

Anderson made headlines for praising the killers of 49 people at a gay night club in the US.

He is expected in South Africa later this month.

The Home Affairs Minister, Malusi Gigaba met with the Human Rights Commission and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex community which is opposing the pastor's visit.


Gigaba says In a statement  the department is carefully weighing its options.
