A Nyanga doctor accused of
raping a patient is expected in court next month for a formal bail application.
The accused works as a locum
at a Nyanga clinic.
He appeared in court yesterday
on four counts of rape and has been remanded in custody.
The accused lawyer has argued
for his client to be released on bail, because he is the only breadwinner, he is
married and has two young children.
The prosecution has told the
court the doctor sexually assaulted a patient who had gone to the Nyanga Community
Clinic with a back pain.
The accused had apparently
told the woman to lie on a bed in the consulting room, where he allegedly
sexually assaulted her before raping her.
The State says he could face
more rape charges, as the prosecution is waiting on other rape investigations
dating back to 2014.
