South African kwaito legend passes on

South Africa is saddened by the death of kwaito legend Mduduzi Tshabalala, known by his stage name Mandoza.

Mandoza 38,passed away after a battle with brain cancer.

The kwaito legend's family confirmed that he passed away after being rushed to hospital early on yesterday morning.

The singer's hit Nkalakatha that made him a household name in South Africa in 2001 because a unifying song and one of the most recognised songs on radio.

He won the Song of the Year category at the South African Music Awards in 2001.

Mandoza leaves behind his wife, Mpho, and three sons, Tokollo, Thapelo and Tumelo.
