Minister urges country to use water sparingly

Minister of Cooperative Governance, Des van Rooyen, encouraged the country to use water sparingly.

He says A number of measures are to be put in place to combat the negative impact of drought in the country.

Van Rooyen briefed various departments on the current status of the drought.

He says All sectors of the country have been affected by the drought, especially farming and Below normal rainfall, heatwaves and increased temperatures have resulted in shortage of rain and the worst drought the country has seen.


The continuous dry conditions have also led to serious water restrictions.
