Vigilant airport police arrest drug mule

A 36-year-old woman travelling on an Angolan-issued passport appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Policies spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala confirmed to Bush Radio that the woman was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport by the South African Police Service’s Transnational Investigation Team for allegedly dealing in drugs.

Mohlala says “Filomena Maria Omba was arrested last Saturday, 8 October 2016 by members of the airport based team after they discovered that she had swallowed 575 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of R172 500.”

Omba was in transit to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa from Sao Paulo in Brazil.” He said

The case was postponed to 29 November 2016 for further investigation and the suspect was remanded in custody.” He concluded
