The Tshwane University of Technology has announced a no fee hike for the 2017 academic year.

Students embarked on a protest at the institution’s Soshanguve campus yesterday, burning tyres and dustbins to block entrances.

Student protests across the country began when a fee increase was announced for the 2017 academic year.

The university's counsel assembled a special meeting yesterday, where the decision for a 0% fee increase was made.

Students and management signed a memorandum of agreement that the academic programme would continue peacefully
