Mitchells Plain CPF expected stricter punishment for drug dealer

Mitchells Plain Community Policing Forum says a notorious drug dealer should have been handed a stricter punishment.

Clayton Afrika, who pleaded guilty to charges of drug dealing, was slapped with a ten-year prison sentence, five of those years have been suspended while the other five will be served directly.

Afrika was arrested alongside five others after police discovered 3.2kg of tik worth an estimated R600, 000 in their possession in May this year.

Afrika, however, pleaded guilty to all the charges, and the case against his five co-accused was withdrawn.

CPF chairperson Abie Isaacs says they want the National Prosecuting Authority to appeal the sentencing.
